Partnership FIAF 2008

On April 21st, Eclair will showcase at the BNF to 300 congress participants, an outline of its expertise in color films 2K digital restoration.

Éclair is a hundred years old French lab and used to be also a film producer such as Pathé and Gaumont, between 1907 and 1918. The lab and the studios were located in the town of Épinay-sur-Seine (near Paris) and an American Éclair studio also opened in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Unfortunately, the Éclair film production has been almost totally destroyed along the century. However, few movies survived and have been projected during the Bologna Silent Film Festival, or at the Cinémathèque Française.
Organized by the CNC (Centre National de la Cinématographie), the next FIAF congress will take place in Paris in April 2008. Éclair restoration department is also delighted to support this great event. Aware of the difficulty for some film archives to preserve their collection, Éclair wants to provide a one year funding assistance for the FIAF “Reel Emergency Project”. The grant will consist in providing for the selected project, an easier access to the Éclair lab facilities. Otherwise, the congress program will consist this year in projecting films produced with various colour systems. Thus will take place at the National Library (BNF) on April 21, Éclair will introduce some digital colour restoration.
