Digital laboratory

As it was the birthplace of cinematography, Eclair was one of the first laboratories in the world to integrate complete digital postproduction to recreate a final image identical in quality to the original image. Capitalizing on the company’s historic know-how, the laboratory was initially dedicated to black & white and colour film restoration.

Gradually, as machines increased their calculating power and servers increased their storage capacity, Eclair developed the first digital unit for feature film on-line postproduction.

From digitalisation to retour on 35 mm film, the entire film is today stored in the form of digital files accessed via different work stations. The new technology has been accompanied by new working methods providing greater artistic input and increased creativity.

In addition to these tools, Eclair possesses a dual silver grain and pixel culture, enabling its clients to benefit from image quality which few laboratories have been able to preserve and develop. This expertise has made it possible to calibrate different tools in the digital production line, so that the postproduction film remains faithful to the final screened image.

Eclair offers its clients a complete range of services based on digital production : postproduction, editing, creating special effects, restoring, standardization, creating a digital master … and retour sur film. Eclair offers entirely digital centralised workflow. The laboratory works with a series of partners and constructors who are constantly pushing technological limits forward.

Eclair has a simple ambition: to make ever more beautiful images, able to delight viewers in cinemas throughout the world.

Eclair anticipates technological evolution transcending the traditional constraints of the laboratory profession. Positioning itself as a true consultant, it can intervene as early as the writing of a cinema project, whatever this project’s nature.
